Ore Creek Veterinary Clinic Staff

Kathleen Gannon is the youngest of 6 children who grew up in Novi, Michigan.  Her parents 
moved out to the “country” in the 60’s to raise their growing family which ended up as 4 
daughters and two sons.   
 
From a young age, she developed an affinity for animals and reading.  She grew up riding her 
horse around the changing landscape of western Oakland County while devouring books.  
After swimming all four years for her high school team, she graduated early. 
 
She attended Oakland Community College for her first several semesters to offset the cost of a 
bigger university before heading up to Michigan State.  Prior to entering MSU College of 
Veterinary Medicine she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology.   
 
During her time in vet school, Dr. Gannon focused on internal medicine, surgery and equine 
rotations.  She graduated with her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in May of 2001. 
 
She began her veterinary career at Fowlerville Veterinary Clinic as one of two horse vets as well 
as performing small animal surgery on occasion.   The night prior to delivering her second child 
she was on a farm call until after midnight suturing a horses chest and leg.   
 
With her own growing family, Dr. Gannon transitioned to small animal practice and worked for 
practices in Highland, South Lyon and Walled Lake.   
 
Dr. Gannon jokes now, that with the upcoming arrival of her fourth child it seemed like a great 
time to buy her own clinic.  So in February of 2007 she bought Companion Animal Hospital 
while unknowingly heading into a huge recession.  After making it 5 years, the name was 
changed to Ore Creek Veterinary clinic to give a fresh face and reflect the location and 
community that the clinic served.   
 
Dr. Gannon has two daughters and two sons.  She lives in Howell with her husband and kids.  
She is a passionate hunter and has several hunting dogs.  She enjoys horseback riding, 
saltwater fishing and spending time on Lake Huron in the summers.

Dr. Hynes is a lifelong Michigan resident who grew up in Detroit with her father working as a police officer and her mother is a registered nurse (retired). She attended Divine Child High School, then Henry Ford College before being accepted into Michigan State University. From undergraduate studies, she went on to the College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with her doctorate in Zoology.

Ore Creek Veterinary Clinic had the great fortune of adding Dr. Hynes to the team in September of 2020 and we couldn't be more pleased. Dr. Hynes brought with her an amazing surgical skill set, excellent internal medicine skills, clinical diagnostics, the addition of ultrasound abilities. If that wasn't enough she sees exotic pets. Since joining the team we now get to see all kinds of birds and pocket pets like rabbits and even some sugar gliders.

Along with her duties at Ore Creek, Dr. Hynes finds time to provide vet med services to the Howell Nature Center. Some of those appointments have included spaying coyotes, removing frost bitten opossum tails and nursing raptors back to health.

Dr. Hynes lives in Livingston County with her husband Steve and has raised two great young men. While not practicing vet med she enjoys reading, outdoor activities like hiking the Appalachian Trail and traveling the world. One of her recent trips was to Scotland.

Melanie is a long term fixture at Ore Creek Veterinary Clinic. She came in as an LVT not long after Dr. Gannon took ownership in 2007. Melanie and Dr. Gannon met at another clinic when Melanie was still in high school at the beginning of her veterinary career journey.

Melanie is a graduate of the Macomb County Community College Vet Tech program. She has been an invaluable asset to Ore Creek Vet team. It has been a pleasure to watch her grow as a technician, wife and mother.

Melanie lives in Davison with her husband and three young sons. In addition to having dogs and cats, she has a pet pig and plenty of chickens.

Katie is a lifelong Michigan resident who grew up in the metro Detroit area before moving out to Hartland with her parents at the end of her high school. She came to Ore Creek Vet back in the days of it being Companion Animal Hospital during her clinical rotations through Baker College's Vet Tech program.

After completing her LVT program and licensing we never let her leave. She has been a full time LVT for Ore Creek since 2008.

Katie and her husband live with her dog Scout and cat ????. Katie is passionate about the Lions, and U of M football teams and vacationing in the Upper Peninsula. Katie is also a die hard cross fit athlete who competes with her Grand Trunk team.

Ronen is the second of Dr. Gannon’s 4 children and has been tagging along with his mom to work for as long as he can remember.

When he was 9 he begged to help with one of the family dog’s surgeries, there is a picture floating around with him standing on a stool and being completely gowned up for surgery. Since then, he always found a way to end up at Ore Creek.

He began working at the clinic for real in high school and has continued to take a bigger role each year that passes. He has a broad technical knowledge of veterinary care. You may see him assisting in surgery still, doing preliminary meetings with pets and owners or even answering the phone on the front desk.

After graduating from Detroit Catholic High School in 2021 he has done the collegiate circuit including LCC, Michigan State and is finishing his biology degree at Oakland University. As of the spring of 2025 he is in the application process for the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University.

Ronen has a dog named Banshee and a horse named Barbie that he shows in reining.
